Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act

Dear Member;

On January 1st, 2004 new legislation came into effect in the form of the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA).

This legislation regulates the collection, use and disclosure of personal information by organizations in the course of commercial activity. Personal information is defined as information about an identifiable individual and need not be recorded in any particular form. Commercial activity is defined as any particular transaction, act or conduct or any regular course of conduct that is of a commercial character, including the selling, bartering or leasing of donor, membership or other lists.

Please be assured that we do not give our membership lists or information to anyone. All information gathered is kept in confidence. The information gathered is used to solely deliver services and to keep you informed and up-to-date on the activities of the Manitoba Prostate Cancer Support Group, including programs, services, special events, funding needs, opportunities to volunteer or to give, open houses and meetings. If at any time you wish to have your name removed from our contact list, simply contact us by email (manpros@mts.net) or leave a message on our answering machine (204-989-3433) and we will gladly accommodate your request.
